Born in Connecticut on June 19, 1934, Sally was the daughter of the late Ward and Margaret (Roody) Stiles. She was a graduate of South Windsor High School, Class of 1952 and retired from Mallon Chevrolet in Norwich, where she was a secretary for 25 years. Sally enjoyed the simple things in life. She especially loved spending time and laughing with her sister, Diane, as well as her children and grandchildren. The Norman Rockwell Museum, among other museums, were frequently visited and explored. She also loved talking about her trips and outings with her husband, Richard Peterson. Sally had a passion for collecting teddy bears, playing cards, working on word puzzles and going to plays or musicals with her friends and family.
She is survived by her son, Richard Peterson II of North Stonington, her daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Hank Waltmire of Indian Land, South Carolina, four grandchildren, Jacquelyn Phillips, Keith, Kaylie, and Evan Peterson, and her sister Diane Hoctor of Enfield as well as two nieces, Debbie and Doreen Hoctor, and a nephew, Craig Hoctor. Besides her beloved husband of 38 years, she was predeceased by a son, Keith Peterson.
A gathering with the family will take place at 10:30 a.m with a celebration service beginning at 11am. on Tuesday December 3rd at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel located on 30 Carter St., East Hartford, CT. Burial will follow the service at the Center Cemetery in Portland, CT.
