When my sister Lanie asked me to say a few words from the heart for her mother, my stepmother, it came natural. I knew exactly what I wanted to say.

I met my Dad’s new wife, Elaine, when I was ten.
She may not have been schooled much, but she was smart from her heart.
I could talk with her about anything, and I knew she cared. 
I didn’t have many, if any, people I could talk to. She listened.

I realized how much I learned from her and how caring she was. 

When my father died, we all visited him when we could. We would take shifts so somebody would be there for him. Elaine was with him every day! I would leave work at about 5:30 to relieve her. This particular time she really didn’t want to leave, but finally felt assured in doing so.
At about 7:15 my father passed while I held his hand.

The first person I called was Elaine. We cried together, and I told her that I was sorry, as his wife I wish she were there instead of me. She said to me very sincerely  “ Joey, you were the first in his life, it is only proper that you were the last”. I cried. What a remarkable strong woman to give of herself like that!
I know of how much her and my Dad loved each other.

These last few weeks she and I again spent some quality private time together.
She told me she accepted her fate. She shown me her love, and caring, and that phenomenal strength she had.

I say my prayers for her every night.
I know God will accept her in heaven.

I love you Elaine, very, very, much, and will miss you.

ELAINE was a wonderfull woman im sorry to hear of her passing im sorry for your loss she was such a funny woman i used to scream her name out very loudly when ever i saw her she used to either laugh oir tell me to shut up Michael my deepest sympathys to all that loved her

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your Mother and Grandmother. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prays. The next few days will be the hardest. Just remember there were alot of people your Mom was missing and I'm sure they were all there waiting to greet her. Be strong and lean on each other to help you though this difficult time.
