Edward E. Canto of East Boston and formerly of Boston’s North End passed away on Oct. 17, 2012, he was 96. He was the son of the late Dominic and Sabina (Gisi) Canto. He was born in Boston’s North End on October 3, 1916 and married his late wife Filomena (Nuzzo) Canto there. He moved to East Boston where he lived the majority of his life.
Edward worked at Harvard University as security from 1952-1979.
Edward is survived by his daughter, Sabina Taylor and her late husband John H. of East Boston, Camille Gilardi and her husband Louis of N. Reading, Ann Shirley Fritz and her husband Albert of Everett and the late Edward E. Canto Jr. and his surviving wife Angela of NH. He is the grandfather of 9 and great-grandfather of 15. Dear brother of Peter of Boston, Helen Cacciola of Everett, the late Mary DiTomasso, Anthony, Guy and Dominic. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Rapino Memorial Home, 9 Chelsea St. (Maverick Sq.) EAST BOSTON on Saturday at 10am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, corner of Brooks and Paris St., East Boston at 11am. The family will receive visitors on Friday from 4-8pm. Services will conclude with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
