Marty was a good friend and  co-worker at the GM forge,  my thoughts and prayers are with your family.  Best memory was buying an older car from Marty while my classic car was in storage and next spring he bought the car back. Rest in peace Marty.

I graduated from Bishop Timon with Marty. He was a lot of fun. We got into some mischief together. We tossed desks out the top floor at the Annex.

My deepest condolences to Marty’s family. I am very sad to hear about his passing. I met Marty in 1st grade at St Bonaventure school and parish. We were instant friends up through Timon High school when we graduated in 1974. I moved to California in 1976 and lost contact with him, which I now know from the stories and photos was a great loss for me. ...Marty, way back in 1st grade, had a heart of gold, a keen sense of what is right, and what it means to treat people with kindness and respect. He was not also not shy about standing up for his beliefs, and helping those who couldn't stand up for themself. I was that shy small kid in 3rd grade when a bully started pushing me around. When Marty saw it happen, he stepped in and told the bully to leave me alone. He taught me a valuable lesson that day about fighting for what's right and for myself, but also I saw the strength of Marty's heart and sense of integrity. In 8th grade, Marty showed his desire to be inclusive when he invited me to go with him and his family to their summer cottage. He and everyone made me feel welcome. Later at Timon in a Physical Ed class we played a game called Dodgeball which I hated since I was often not fast enough to dodge the ball and it hurt when it hit! The goal of the game was to throw a soccer sized ball at other kids to hit them and get them out. Some kids would throw the ball very hard!  One day Marty saw me on the other side and threw the ball at me, fast enough to hit me but not hard enough to leave a big red mark.  I thanked him for his kindness! Marty, I'm sorry I didn't stay in touch after high school; I would have loved to know you and meet your wonderful family.  I will miss you. 

p.s.) His nickname as a kid was "Farmer" which to this day I don't know why.

RIP Marty. Condolences to Marty’s family. I was in the Bishop Timon class of 1974 with Marty. I was thrilled when Marty was elected class President. Everybody identified with Marty and everybody loved Marty. I did see Marty periodically over the years, even attending a UAW union dinner at the Hearthstone at his invite around the year 2000. So sorry to hear of Mary's passing.  Haven't seen him in a long time, but we lived next door on Flohr Ave.  Always a nice smile, and a "how are you doing?" neighbor type of guy.   RIP Marty.

My memory of Marty and our high school years……He always had a smile on his face that came straight from his heart. I can’t remember a day in our fours years at Timon, that if our paths crossed, which was almost daily, that Marty didn’t either make me smile or laugh. Enjoying the character and glowing personality of this man, along with the interactions that I had with Marty, ran from 1970-1974. I don’t recall ever seeing Marty since graduation. And so, nearly 5O years later, upon hearing the very sad news of Marty’s passing, a switch flipped on. I was immediately transported back to our four years at Timon. This is the wonderful memory that Marty had gifted me all those years ago. I firmly believe Marty had that effect, and much more, on everyone that had the blessing of knowing him.

Losing you is an awakening to live every day in love, laughter, faith, gratitude and never take anything for granted and not to sweat the small stuff.  It can all change in an instant with no warning.  
It is my privilege and honor to have you in my life and now left with a lifetime of cherished memories forever in my heart for your spirit to live on.  
We lost an angel, but our Heavenly Father has taken you to join with His angels to guardian those of us that will join you later … but in the meantime, you are now reunited with Mom, Dad and Fran, to embrace and welcome you to heaven.  
I'm terribly saddened as another piece of my heart is taken. 💔 I miss you every second my MAFK.

How vividly we remember you doing the Charleston with Meg in The Boyfriend MMA '73. Jerry had great fun with you in the famous Fiddler on the Roof Revue '72 at BT/SJ HS.  What a blast we had at all the cast parties when Tom played the piano and we sang all the songs from the shows!  
We were thrilled to rediscover our friendship in East Aurora.  Your solemn liturgical readings at Immaculate Conception Church were quite a contrast to the laughing fella we knew.
You were devoted to your Mom, and extended that to my Mom when you did some plumbing work for her at no charge at your insistence.  
What a pleasure to see you in the truck, stopping by to exchange news and laughter and memories.  You were so devoted to Nancy and the girls, always evident in your conversation.

I can still picture Marty, standing up in Sister Sienna's class at St. Bonaventure and singing to all of us! That took courage, I don't think anyone else in our class could have done that. He was a class clown and kept us all in stitches, and charmed every teacher we ever had, even the elderly nuns. Another memory is one of a WSW reunion in the penthouse of M&T Plaza. As soon as we started chatting, he pulled out his wallet and showed me the photos he carried of "my girls". He was so happy and proud of each of you. He was an indelible spirit and a gentleman. To Nancy, his lovely daughters, and all friends and family, especially Carol, please accept my sincere condolences.

I worked with Marty at American Axle and Manufacturing and was fortunate to serve with him on the  UAW Local #846 Retirees  board. I met him years ago in the women’s locker room at the plant. I know. That sounds bad, but it was perfectly innocent.  It was my job to clean the locker room and he  was up there fixing a sink. He had recently seen the movie Arthur and was going on and on about it, imitating Dudley Moore and making me laugh hysterically. I liked him from the moment I met him. I had the opportunity to meet his wife, Nancy two years ago at my wedding. I’m so sorry for your entire family’s loss. He’s gone much too soon  He had a personality larger than life and he will be greatly missed.

I am so sad to hear this. Marty and I were friends in high school, through the Bishop Timon and Mount Mercy musicals. Everyone loved being around Marty. He was so warm, fun, funny and generous. He wanted everyone to be happy. Rest in peace, Marty.

I was fortunate to work with Marty at American Axle. Marty was an excellent Pipefitter, and a better fiend.
