Jim was born in Wales Center, NY to the parents of late Henry R. Almeter and Catherine Barvian Almeter. He was preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Shirley A. Almeter, and much-loved siblings: Donald Almeter, Barbara Almeter Ripstein, Darwin Almeter, Regina Almeter Lewis, and Richard Almeter, and stepdaughter Cathy Walls.
He is survived by his cherished second wife, Barbara Walls Almeter, daughter Debbie Almeter Lloyd, son Tim Almeter and his wife Nanette, daughter Kim Ann Almeter Wilder and her husband David Wilder, stepchildren Vicki Lee (Michael), Rick Walls (Shannon), his four grandchildren, whom he was extremely proud of, Natalie Almeter, Grayson Almeter, Madelyn Wilder, and Sergeant Dylan Wilder, and brothers David Almeter and Bobby Almeter.
Jim took over his family’s NY dairy farm before he graduated from high school and worked it for 28 years. He then moved his family to Bardstown, Kentucky where they ran a beef farm for 3 years. Finally settling in Bradenton, FL where he worked as a custom wood craftsman. He was a member of the Sara-Mana Model A Ford Club, Fun T Club of Central Florida, Vintage Wheels Antique Car Club, and Sunshine GMC Motorhome Club.
Jim seemed to have a lasting impact on those he met due to his silly sense of humor, gentle conversation, and genuine kindness. He loved to solve a wood-working or mechanical problem; often creating his own machinery to accomplish the task. He leaves behind beautiful pieces of his craftsmanship as his legacy. He displayed his faith in his deeds and by example. He will be dearly missed but leaves us with countless happy memories.
