Terence Alan Duran, of East Amherst, NY, died Friday, November 22, 2024 while in Hospice at home, at the age of 75. Beloved husband of Gloria (nee Cornish) Duran, the loving father of Juliette (nee Duran) Phillips (John), David Duran, and Geoffrey Duran (Chelsea). He is the cherished grandfather of Andrew Phillips (Alyssa), Josette (nee Phillips) Trautwein (Shawn), Ashley Phillips, Emily Duran, and Abby Duran. He is the loving great grandfather of Violet Trautwein, Rose Trautwein, and Joseph Trautwein. Son of the late Francis P. and late Helen (nee Jasinki) Duran. Dear brother of Antoinette Duran, Anthony Duran, Richard Duran (Barbara) and brother-in-law of Lawrence Paul (Renee). He is predeceased by brother Francis Duran (Rosemary) and sister Barbara (nee Duran) Paul. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Terry grew up in Depew, NY and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Lancaster, NY. He received a BS from Canisius University and an ME from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
For many years, Terry worked in management, starting at I Squared R Element (I2R) in Akron, NY, then LCP Chemicals in Solvay, NY, and finally Niacet in Niagara Falls, NY before retiring to begin a new career as a middle school math and science teacher and SAT tutor.
Terry volunteered by teaching people how to use computers to become job ready. He volunteered as a painter during the restoration of Shea’s Theatre.
Terry loved his Catholic faith as a member of St. Mary’s in Swormville for 33 years. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus and volunteered with the International Institute of Buffalo to help meet the needs of refugees. Terry had a big generous heart and did whatever he could to help others in need.
Terry was a handyman who took pride in his home improvements. He had a keen sense of humor and adventure and loved to travel with his dear wife. Terry loved Buffalo and was so happy to share city landmarks with family and friends. He was a sports enthusiast, a fan of the Buffalo Sabres, Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills, and Buffalo Bisons. Yet his most joyous moments were spent with his beloved family.
Friends may call Sunday, December 1, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Dengler, Roberts, Perna Funeral Home, 8630 Transit Rd, East Amherst. Friends are invited to attend a mass of Christian Burial wil Monday, December 2, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Chapel, 6919 Transit Rd., Swormville.
