He was one of my dearest friends! We were college classmates and shared our love of sports and the outdoors. I pray for him every morning and cannot believe it has been three years already. He was with me at my hunting camp just before he passed and his memory will always be with me. Rick

One of my best and trusted friends🙏 My college roommate and hunting/fishing partner for years. Was blessed to have spent the day before he died with him at my hunting camp. I hold the CHS record for most errors in one inning. Not too long ago I recounted this feat to an audience of CHS students. Somebody came up to me after the speech and reminded me that he was the pitcher for that game. We hugged and laughed. Didn’t realize how much I cared for that vibrant soul 

I graduated with Dick from Clarence Central High School, class of '63.  We did not keep in touch, but I did meet him at the High School reunions and learned we both served in the Navy in Vietnam.  My sincere sympathies.  And I to have been a big supporter of the DAV and I will make a donation in his name.  

I met Dick in the 1970s playing Softball in Clarence. I took a liking to him immediately because of his outgoing personality. He had a great sense of humor and was always smiling and joking. He was devoted to his Family and enjoyed Hunting and Fishing. He was a pleasure to be around and I am glad I got to know him. R.I.P. My Friend and God Bless his Family

First I knew Dick as a good neighbor: When needed, he was always there for my family and me.  So helpful.
Then Dick was a great teammate: Together we patrolled the outfield and circled the bases of every ball field in Clarence.
The Godfather: Yes, Dick is my youngest daughter's godfather.  Kari always enjoyed her FUN visits with Dick.
Geezer Golfer: When Dick joined my golf group, The Geezer Golfers, he changed the group for the better.  Not just because he was our best golfer, but because of his out-going, fun-loving personality.  I must admit I had to listen to the same jokes I've been hearing for 45 years but I still had to laugh. Dick also had a real passion for finding golf balls.  At the end of a round of golf, Dick always told us "how many golf balls I found" not his score (which was always the lowest round of the day).  The great thing about Dick is the joy he took in SHARING the golf balls he found!  He would take his new-found golf balls home; wash and clean them; place the golf balls in egg cartons; then give cartons of golf balls to his fellow Geezer Golfers!  And, get this, Dick knew everybody's favorite golf ball!  We started calling him "Dick, the Golf Ball Guy".
A friend, always:  From the first days when our sons played hockey together on the hockey pond Dick made in his backyard to our days on the golf course ... he was always my friend and Dick will always be with me ... as my friend.

Dick was a kind hearted man willing to help anyone.  He always had a smile, often a (sometimes really bad) joke and at least two of everything  you needed.   He supplied golf balls, walleye, snow plowing, squirrel control, and advice on just about anything, along with a whole lot of friendship.  We loved him and he is missed.  Rest In Peace Mayor of Northfield Road.

To my good friend and hunting buddy-may you Rest In Peace and may eternal light shine on you always. We met in college in 1963 and became very good and trusted friends. I will miss you in the deer woods and  on the walleye waters but will always cherish our bond formed over 50 years ago.  My life was better because you were in it Dick. I will miss you yet will cherish the memories we made together.

So many great memories. Fourth of July and Labor Day pool parties, your smile, your laugh and your jokes.  The life of the party.  We'll miss you, Dick.

What a man. What a person. Any of you kids reading - this guy lived the way we are supposed to. Dick was kind. He was generous - Always looking out for the other guy. He fished and gave fish away. He found golf balls to give to others. I shared a golf cart with Dick and we both agreed that Jesus was God's Son - who offers Eternal life in Heaven - to any and all who will hear His call. It is only for a while Dick - keep a light on for me as I fully plan to be there also - when this brief life on earth is over. What a guy. What a man.

Dick was a good man, wonderful neighbor and dear friend.  I called him " my other husband" because, for ten years,, my husband traveled for work during the week and I knew I could call him if I had a problem. He would be there to help.  Always willing to help us with our property, he enjoyed being "out there" , cutting wood, burning, cutting grass, tapping maple trees for syrup and helping with building projects. He even built woodduck houses for us..  A couple years ago he got a 10 pointer in our woods which was part of his private hunting grounds. He was so thrilled! Many trails were cut through those woods and I know that was a kind of sanctuary for him. Hunting and fishing were his favorite pastimes and we benefitted from that as well.  We were happy recipients of Walleye, venison and  maple syrup. He loved silly jokes and to sit and visit.  We spent many hours just sitting and talking about everything and anything.
He loved his family, friends and neighbors.  We all loved him back.
We are going to miss you so much Dick.
