Mary was the beloved wife for 45 years to the late Robert F. Cannon; cherished mother of Mary Beth (Bruce) Goodman, Maggie (Brian) Benk and Patrick J. Cannon; devoted grandmother of Andrew (Annmarie), Katie, Connor and Chelsea and loving great grandmother to Arlo and Jaime. She is also survived by many friends.
In addition to raising her children, Mary had a highly successful career working at Kleinhans Department Store as the Manager of the Women’s Department winning numerous awards for her sales achievements. After she retired, Mary dedicated herself to deepen her knowledge of her faith and graduated from the Catholic Biblical school. She became very active in her church, becoming an Eucharistic Minister at St Mary’s. She utilized her deep religious devotion, teaching religious education and creating both an adult and high school Bible program at the church. Additionally, she served on the Board of the WNY Bible Society as a Catholic Lay Representative. In recognition of her service, Mary was the proud recipient of the St. Joseph Award for dedicating her time to various ministries within her parish.
In later years, she focused on growing the Catholic community at Transit Pointe Senior Apartments, facilitating a Friday Mass service and creating a Bible Study in addition to serving communion to the homebound.
Throughout her life Mary was an avid sports enthusiastic as a participant and fan, especially enjoying her beloved NY Yankees. She will be missed by all who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday August 22nd, 10:30 AM at St. Mary RC Church, 6919 Transit Rd. East Amherst NY 14051. Please assemble at the church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s memory to Saint Mary RC Church.
