Kathleen, a resident of Pendleton, was a graduate of Nardin Academy, Buffalo State Teachers College where she earned her Bachelors degree and Canisius College where she got her Masters. She worked for 32 years as a Home Economics teacher at Buffalo Public Schools 38 and 3. After her retirement in 1991 she and her husband Phil Howard moved to Indian Lake, New York where they enjoyed the outdoors - gardening, birding, swimming and boating. After Phil's death in 1993, Kathie returned to the Buffalo area and became an active volunteer in the Food Shuttle of Western New York. She was a wonderful cook and quilter and she loved to travel and cheer for the Buffalo Bills. During the last several years, Kathie was confined to home due to the effects of a stroke, but despite her physical limitations, she maintained a fierce spirit of independence. She will always be remembered for her perseverance, generosity and her great and open spirit of hospitality toward others, especially her family and close friends.
