It is very difficult to express our sadness and sympathy for the loss of Jene-Elise. This past year has been a horrible one for your family. So many difficulties and decisions -so many doctors coming up with nothing and regretfully was greater than her efforts. No words can really express the pain that you and your family have endured during this past year and how hard it was trying to find answers to her illness. Jene-Elise was a strong and smart person, who kept fighting to the end and her family supported her all the way. Life has its sorrows, but the loss of an unexpected loss is devastating.   You were so brave dealing with all of this.  May she rest in peace.

To Aunt Carol Ann and Uncle Bob, Scott, Dave, Gabriella, Mariah and Garrett - my heart is with you all. I've been thinking so much about Jene-Elise. Remembering days long past ... 40-plus years ago, traveling together in the back of my parents' station wagon, tossing play money into the air to entertain drivers (pre-seatbelt laws), being mesmerized by her putting on lipstick in the car at a family picnic, raiding the fridge in the middle of the night at her birthday sleepover (on Seabrook), rollerskating in the basement of Aunt Mae's house (or was it yours, Aunt Carol Ann?) and roaming the vast upstairs at Aunt Mae's, meeting in the middle of that amazing staircase. She is forever a part of my childhood, there in memories and mannerisms, my older, cooler cousin, her bright light and energy a balm for my timid, introverted little kid. She was always good to me. I can still hear in my mind her distinct way of saying my name in full, can hear her laugh, can see her hair and hands moving with her animated style. Living away from family means I don't see you all very often. Still, I cherish the connection of those early days and years, and all the times we saw each other after that - my kids and her kids spending time - and it strikes such pain in my heart, her absence from this world. I hold her and those memories close, and will look forward to the next time I see you all, and, in particular, her children, each a reminder of her goodness, beauty and bright light in a singular, dazzling smile. My favorite memory of Jene-Elise is when she taught me how to ice skate and was so patient with me when I was younger 🤍 Sending hugs to everyone. I am so sorry and very saddened by this news.

Condolences to my longtime friend Dave and his family.  It was a pleasure to encounter Jene-Elise multiple times and easy to understand the fond memories that so many have expressed here.  The loss of a strong positive influence is particularly difficult and I hope those close to her can draw on those memories now and in the future.

Mrs. Uhl was an amazing, Kindhearted and beautiful person. She always knew how to make me smile when I was having a bad day and treated me like a daughter. Mrs Uhl was an amazing teacher and treated every student like her own. I think all of us students are in shock as she was an amazing person and made everyone smile with the beautiful smile she had. Jene-Elise was such a wonderful person.  I got to know her over the years her children attended Amherst Community Church Child Care.  I am so sorry to hear this and my deepest sympathies go to Dave, the children and her whole family.

Jene Elise was a teacher's aide in my classroom for many years.  She was a joy to have around!

Mrs. Uhl was one of the best teachers I ever had in school, she always made me smile, always let us eat lunch with her. Never did I not see a smile on her beautiful face. This is devastating news that I know most of us students feel the same way about how she treated us. Just like her own ♥️ May she rest in peace. 

Mrs. Uhl was my son's teacher this past school year, he is truly heartbroken because she was one of his favorites.  She really advocated for my son and for that I will be forever grateful.  This is a huge loss for  our community.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Uhl, her children and everyone that loved her.   

I was fortunate enough to have mrs uhl for my 9th grade English teacher. She was truly a amazing person I will miss her dearly. My heart goes out to mr uhl and her kids 

Jene-Elise and I (Jennifer Wurl  Gatto) worked together at Hills dept store #97 she and I shared head cashier's duties. She was always so cheerful you couldn't help but not smile when she was around.  I will always remember that smile. She will be sadly missed by my family and many of the other coworkers from the former Hills # 97 . May she rest in God's hands . 

My condolences to the Uhl family. I never worked with her but I would see her in the hallways of Iroquois and she always waved and said hello to me. I worked with Dave and met with him.

Vibrant. Positive. Unique. Loving. Kind. Accepting. Larger than Life. Energetic. Happy. Thought outside the box.  To say she was an exceptional person would be an understatement. She was a champion and protector of her special education students.  She provided great comfort and support to her parents. She ran her classroom non-traditionally and understood her kids.  She created a classroom around their needs and they thrived in it.  She embraced all of their challenges and strengths. She treated them as the most important people in the world and like they were her own.  She had the greatest classroom parties to celebrate individual accomplishments and to teach teamwork.  All the parents loved her because we all knew in our hearts what she was about.  Losing Mrs. Stahura-Uhl is a devastating loss to our Iroquois Community.  We were blessed to have known her and had her in our lives.

Mrs. Uhl was one of my favorite teachers. She treated me like a daughter and always let my friends and I have lunch in her classroom. I can't believe that she is gone.  she was the best teacher and always helped each child in anyway she could. she will be missed. ❤️

We are the SHERBURNE’s and our hearts are broken today with the news about your dear daughter that we and the rest of the family loved so much.Just to refresh you’re memory,we had a wonderful vegetarian dinner at your house and you turned us on to Opera.Our son,Ryan, and Jene-Elise were close and she brightened our lives every moment while in our presence.She was at our house so much I felt like she part of our family.We can’t imagine the hurt you must feel.That smile,that laughter,and the Red! My thoughts and prayers to all of you mourning such a deep loss. May you find comfort in all the cherished memories. Though I didn't get to know Jene-Elise personally, I learned so much about her through her mother, my dear friend,  Carol Ann. 
After reading some of the notes posted so far, it is apparent that Jene-Elise's legacy includes the ideals and values she learned from her parents, that she modeled to her children, students, and friends. Everyone attests to her compassion and humor: her ability to feel, connect, support, empathize, and find a way to conjure a smile or full throttle laughter.
Her memory and presence lives on with each wave of warmth, kindness, and cheer she inspired, and through her children who continue in her ways.

I spent most of my teen years wanting to be you. You taught me how to figure skate, and encouraged me to become a teacher myself. Helping you in your learn to skate classes put me on the path to becoming a classroom teacher as well. I will always remember how kind and funny you were, as well as a great listener. Jene-Elise was such a kind soul. She always had a smile on her face and her laugh was contagious.  I have fond memories of dancing with Jene-Elise at Zumba class as well as sitting by her pool while our kids took swim lessons. She was a sweet friend and a devoted mother. Jene-Elise was one of my favorite parents when her children attended Amherst Community Church. Her warm smile, curly hair and the most beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen will not be forgotten. My deepest sympathies go out to her husband and children. You’re all in my thoughts and prayers. 🙏🏻

Jene Elise brought laughter to the classroom. She loved quoting 80’s movies and comedians. I enjoyed working and having lunch with her. She was always kind and thoughtful. I will miss her greatly! School will not be the same without her laughter. My heart goes out to Dave and her beautiful children.
