Dolores was the beloved wife of the late Ludwig Edward Shimo; devoted mother of David (Patricia) Shimo, Linda (late Angelo) Maldonado, Diane (Howard) Riedel, James Shimo, the late Mary Jo (Steven) Shahin and late Robert Shimo; cherished grandmother of Kristine Shimo (Brett Hamilton), Nicole (Scott) Gruenauer, Michael (Holly) Maldonado, Amy, Michelle, and Brian(Nikki) Shahin, James, Joseph, Victoria, and Joshua Shimo: great grandmother of Tia and Arianna Shahin, Blake and Anna Maldonado and Aiden Hamilton.; loving sister of Mary Elizabeth (late David) Weil, late Marshall (late Mary Ann) Switzer and late Faith ( late Denzil) Crawford; also survived by many nieces and nephews and so many friends. A special thank you to the staff at Beechwood Continuing Care for treating her with love, dignity and compassion. Dolores was a graduate of Sisters of Charity Hospital School of Nursing and was instrumental in establishing the Official Registry of Private Duty Nurses. She was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Swormville Volunteer Fire Company serving as Director and President for many years. Dolores was also an active member of St Mary's RC Church in Swormville serving as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector as well a member of the bereavement committee. She volunteered as a Sunday School Teacher and was involved in Girl Scouting and Boy Scouts in many capacities. Dolores’s Family will receive friends on Wednesday June 14th from 3-7 PM at the DENGLER, ROBERTS, PERNA FUNERAL HOME, 8630 Transit Rd., East Amherst, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday June15th, 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s RC Church, 6919 Transit Rd. East Amherst NY 14051. Please assemble at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dolores’s memory to Swormville Volunteer Fire Company Ladies’ Auxiliary.
