Walter Adam "Wa Wa" "Pa" West of Erwin, was called into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, February 11, 2018, being 2 years and 15 days of age. He was born in Dunn, North Carolina on January 27, 2016 to Alicia West and Thomas West.
Upon reaching his Heavenly home, Walter was greeted by the following members of his family: Alice and Jimmy Nunley; Betty Jean and John Wesley Elliott; Kenly Walker; Clarence West Sr. and Catherine West; Kenneth Thomas West.
Walter, in a sense was your average two year old, very full of energy and there was no question that he was 100 percent "all boy." He would have lived outside if it were up to him, sometimes in the summer he would stay outside until he was red in the face and even then he had to be drug inside! There was a chair inside his home that sat between the entrance to the home and the outside, one evening he played so hard that when his mom said it was time to come in he fell asleep standing in that chair because he was exhausted but he didn't want to go inside. Walter loved anything pertaining to the outdoors, especially if it involved dirt! He liked flowers, dandelions and daisies, in particular. He would tear up his "Big Nan's" garden so that he could pick the flowers. He loved to "fight" everyone, especially his "Big Nan", always winning the fight but after taking his victory, he would then attack you with kisses! He loved the beach, the waves not so much, but he still was excited to go, just to play in the sand, it was something that he enjoyed immensely. Walter's "Pa Pa", knowing how much he enjoyed getting dirty and to play in the sand purchased him a sand box. Walter was ecstatic! He would sit for hours and play in his sandbox, even though he had a whole yard to venture out into to play, he was content hanging out in his sand box, as long as he had his toy cars and dinos by his side. Although, he spent his days laughing, giving hugs and kisses and at a play like most two year olds; there was one thing that set him aside from other little boys his age, he loved classical music, with that being said his favorite song would still have to be the "Grinch song!" He loved the movie the Grinch! It was a normal occurrence to be woke up, even at 2:00 AM, to a little voice saying "Grinch! Grinch!" because he needed help turning it on. His favorite color was green and his favorite food was turnip or collard greens. He loved Little Debbie Cosmic Brownies and you could rest assured that he would have to have a box with each grocery trip! Walter's favorite superhero's were "Batman" and "The Flash", which would come to no surprise as he was named after them. Walter's sister Cheyenne was his partner in crime. The two were inseparable, although they adored one another, they fought and picked like two elderly people, so they were nicknamed "maw" and "paw." At the end of the day they had each other's back. Walter, was a sweet child, soft hearted and one who loved life; but we may rest easy knowing that he is with our Lord, playing in the biggest sandbox his mind could have imagined, a dino in one hand and a car in the other.
