Sandy Melvin Jones

Sandy was born on Wednesday, December 8, 1937 in Buies Creek, North Carolina to the late James Sexton Jones and Ludie Viola Deal Jones.

He served his country with honor for 26 years in the United States Air Force retiring as a Master Sergeant. After his military retirement was a mail handler with the United States Postal Service retiring with over 18 years of service.

Sandy was a very hard worker. His wife and three boys was his life. Watching television was his favorite pastime. Earlier years of his life, he loved to play golf and was in a bowling league with his late wife Elena.

His late wife Maria Elena Dutilh Jones preceded him in death on October 3, 2022.

Also preceding him, Preceded in death: His parents, James Sexton and Ludie Viola Jones; brothers, Ernest Darnell Jones, James Lacy Jones, and Lawrence Allen Jones; sisters Louise Jones Langdon, and Ruby Jones Jackson.

He is survived his sons, Alexander Joseph and wife Adelaida, Charles Edward, David Allen and wife Margo and one grandchild; half-sisters; Patricia “Jo” Jones Guin and husband Sherrill, Brenda Jones Black and husband Richard; and a step-brother Jimmy McCauley and wife Linda; and many nephews nieces that loved their Uncle Sandy.

One Grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

The family will receive from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022 with Rev. Ashely Jones and Rev. Michael Jones officiating. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Ashley Jones and Rev. Michael Jones officiating.

Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery in Dunn, NC with the rendering of full military honors provided by the United States Air Force Honor Guard.
