Ret. Major U.S. Army Ronald Loyd Ladner, age 83 of Linden died Friday, October 16, 2021 at Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Bragg, NC.
Ronald was born on June 12, 1938 in Lumberton, Mississippi, the son of the late Loyd Alexander Ladner and Eva Owens Ladner. He is also preceded in death by a son, Edward Ray Ladner and a brother, Ralph Ladner.
Ron was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. He served 22 years in the United States Army and retired as Major. He served in Vietnam, Korea, Thailand and Panama. After retirement he entered Civil Service. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Bunnlevel where he was a deacon and Baptist Men’s Director and committees. He enjoyed planting a garden every year and sharing vegetables with friends. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather full of honor and loyalty. He was always there when his family needed help. He was a spiritual leader in the church and in his family.
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 12:00 Noon at Friendship Baptist Church in Bunnlevel, NC, Burial will follow in Sandhill’s State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake, NC with full military honors.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edna Autry Ladner of the home.
A daughter: Karen Ladner Wilson & (husband) Mike of Eastover, NC.
Grandchildren: Jackie Darroch, Brian Ladner and Sara Ryals all of Linden, NC.
Great Grandchildren: Christopher and Kevin Darroch
Daughter-in-Law: Jane Davis Ladner
Sisters: Carolyn Ladner Landrum & (husband) Marvin of Lumberton, MI;
Donnis Ladner Odom & (husband) Elby of Poplarville, MI.
Brothers: Donald Gene Ladner & (wife) Janet of Cedar Park, TX; Phillip Ladner & (wife) Brenda of Lumberton, MI; and Malcolm Ladner & (wife) Donna of Ackerman, MI.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 27, 2021 from 11:00-11:45 am at Friendship Baptist Church in Bunnlevel. One hour prior to the service.
