Marvin lived in the Plain View community his entire life and proudly served as a deacon of Lee’s Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church for many years. His deep faith and commitment to family were the twin pillars that guided his life and will remain his legacy among those who knew and loved him. One of Marvin’s greatest passions was singing gospel music, which he and his late wife Letty did each week as members of their church choir. Marvin’s deep and soothing bass voice also served him well as a founding member of the Gospel Tone Quartet, a group that spread the Lord’s love through song across North Carolina from the late 1950’s to mid 1980’s. An avid outdoorsman, Marvin also loved quail hunting and fishing with his friends and family. Our community has been better for his presence, and his sharp mind, quick wit and kind soul will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Lee’s Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church. A Funeral Service will follow the Visitation at 1:30 pm at the church with burial at Lee’s Chapel/Williford Cemetery.
