Ms. Macie McCall Knox, age 94 of Dunn passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2020 after a two week period of rapidly declining health at Harnett Woods Nursing and Rehab.
Ms. Knox was born in Dunn, North Carolina, on September 6, 1925, she was the daughter of the late John Ransom McCall and Ola Margaret Faircloth McCall. In addition to her parents, Macie was predeceased by her husband Oliver Wright Knox, her sister, Elgeree McCall Elmore, niece, Donna Kaye Elmore and nephew, Johnny Wright Elmore.
Macie was active in the American Legion Auxiliary as well as the Hospital Auxiliary at Betsy Johnson. Macie married Oliver Wright Knox on August 1, 1942. They enjoyed a happy life together until his passing in 2004.
Macie joined First Presbyterian Church in Dunn after her marriage, and moved her membership back to her home church, First Baptist Church in Dunn, after the passing of her two sisters-in-law. She was an active member of both congregations, especially enjoying the senior groups and her Sunday School class.
A Funeral Service will be held Monday, August 3, 2020 at 11:00 am at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Len Keever officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
She is survived by her nephew James “Jimmy” O’dell Elmore, Jr. of Clayton, NC, and a niece Margaret Cynthia Elmore Baggett (Grady) of Rock Hill, S.C. Other survivors include her twin great-nephews, Grady Elmore Baggett (Courtney) and Knox Johnson Baggett (Cheryl), both of Summerville, SC, as well as a great-great-nephew Grady Wilson Baggett and great-great-nieces Macie Louise Baggett, Sonnie Elizabeth Baggett, and Mary Knox Baggett.
There will be a visitation Sunday afternoon, August 2, 2020 from 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home in Dunn. The family will be at the funeral home from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm Sunday.
