James Riley Brown

He was born September 17, 1940 in Sampson County, NC the son of the late Mesco Thomas Brown and Maime Dee Moore. He is also preceded in death by his beloved wife and best friend, Billie R. Brown.

James was a home builder and general contractor for over 50 years, he did both residential and commercial structures. Mr. Brown served his country honorably in the US Army. He enjoyed working in his shop, hunting, fishing, old cars, building boats, playing his guitars and drinking a Pepsi. Most of all he was devoted to his family and loved spending time with them.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Terry Brown and wife Mac Ellen; David W. Redding and wife Kathy; Donald Redding and wife Kim and Steven Redding; 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; brothers, Jerry Brown and wife Edna and Jonnie Brown and wife Linda; and numerous other loving family and friends.

A funeral service will be held 2 PM Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Williford Cemetery in Plainview, NC.
