Gary Wilson Byrd

Gary Byrd passed away unexpectedly on May 13, 2024. Gary was a lifelong resident of Dunn, NC where he worked in the construction industry for many years and spent the remainder of his career with The Godwin Group. Gary was an avid reader, enjoyed photography and loved to cook. He was also a huge Miami Dolphins and Nascar fan who loved his country music! Gary was predeceased in death by his mother Betty Jean Morrison and father “Sonny” Byrd as well as his sister Joan Parker and brother Terry Byrd.

Gary is survived by sisters, Pam Ivey and Dianne Allison and brother Jim Byrd. Gary will be missed dearly by his children; Billy Byrd (Melissa) and Angie Brandt, grandchildren; Silas Byrd (Aliciea), Grant Byrd (Danielle), Elizabeth Ivey, Sophia Byrd, Kylee Byrd, Mallary Kelly (Jesse), Austyn Brandt (Cyndie), Lesley Brandt (Zacharie), 17 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The Visitation for Gary Byrd for family and friends will be Friday, May 31, 2024 from 4:30PM-5:30PM at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home in Dunn, NC; the service will follow at 6PM in the Chapel.
