Earl Wayne Godwin, 77, of Plain View, passed away peacefully in his sleep to his Heavenly home on Sunday, March 23, 2025. He was the son of the late Earl and Maurice Godwin and was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Judy Autry Godwin.
Wayne graduated from Midway High School and was a member of Lee's Chapel OFWB Church. Over the years, he was employed by Winn-Dixie, the Dunn Police Department, Harnett County Department of Corrections, and retired from US Food Services. He also worked part-time as a tour bus driver for D & T Tours.
He truly enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing, especially after his retirement. Additionally, he enjoyed witnessing to others for the Lord by sharing his testimony.
He is survived by his sons, Chris (Melissa) Godwin of Clinton and Steven Godwin of the home; daughter, Kimberly Godwin of Plain View; one grandson at home, Daniel Godwin; sisters, Carol Godwin, Pamela (Dwight) Spell, and Phyllis (Tommy) Shirley, all of Plain View; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lee's Chapel OFWB Wheelchair Ramp Ministry. This foundation was very special to Earl; they donated a wheelchair ramp to him, allowing him to enter and exit his home safely in his wheelchair.
