Dwight Belmont Maness

Dwight Belmont Maness was born July 22, 1951 in Philadelphia, PA to Ira Belmont and Ruth Maness of Erwin, NC. He was a proud Navy Veteran, having met and married the love of his life, Jackie, while stationed in Hawaii. Dwight was one hell of a man and loved to fish, shoot the crap, spend time with his dear friends at Goose Creek, and reminisce on his days working at Sharon Harris NPP or running the video stores. His jokes were endless, and he was strong and stubborn- always the life of the party and never having met a stranger. We are honored to have been raised and loved by him. He passed away peacefully at the Durham VA Medical Center on Saturday, June 24, 2023 surrounded by the love of his two daughters, Christy and Kim. Dwight was met with open arms by his parents, Ira Belmont and Ruth Maness, his wife, Josclyn (Jackie) Kachur Maness, his second wife, Clarita (Rita) Viray Maness, and his siblings, Wanda Maness, Donnie Maness, and Bonnie Maness Avery. He is survived by his sister and her husband- Brenda and Ed True, his daughters- Christy Maness Miller and Kimberly Maness, his grandchildren- Ian Miller, Sessalie Hunter Honeycutt, Ross Honeycutt, and Alexander, and countless friends.

Dwight did not want services held for him, but if you’d like, pouring a drink in his name would’ve made him smile.
