David Allen Tew

David Allen Tew, age 67 of Linden, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 21, 2023 while doing what he enjoyed, attended to his dogs at the Fox Reserve.

David was born April 11, 1956 in Linden, the son of the late William Edwin Tew, Sr. and Myrtle Davis Tew and is preceded in death by brothers, William Edwin Tew, Jr. (Billy), James Ira Tew and Robert Lee Tew.

David was the youngest of six children and quickly learn to play, work, and hunt in the fields and forests surrounding his home. He was a lifelong resident of Linden and a graduate of Pine Forest High School. After graduation, he began his career with Kelly Springfield.

From an early age David was an avid hunter and was an excellent marksman. He joined his father in their love of fox hunting, breeding champion hunting dogs and winning numerous trophies across the southeast. David established a “Fox Reserve” in Linden where he trained fox hounds with friends and associates. This was a successful enterprise which brought him great joy. His other interest included mowing the pastures and yards, watching sports of all kinds particularly the ACC, cheering on NCSU, playing golf, going to concerts, and cooking out with friends and family.

David is survived by his best friend, Gladys Binion and her daughter, Bonnie Brock & (husband) Jonathan of Linden, and her son Randall Blackmon of Linden, NC.

A sister, Shirley Tew Warren of Durham and a brother, Willie Eugene Tew, (wife) Deborah of Port Richey, Florida.

Sisters-in-law, Donna Tew of Dunn and Marion Tew of Linden, NC, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home in Dunn, one hour prior to the service.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home Chapel in Dunn. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville at 3:00 pm.

Flowers will be acceptable or donations may be made to Sardis Presbyterian Church, Building Fund, P O Box 99, Linden, N.C. 28356.
