Christy was born on April 4, 1973, in Cumberland County, NC to Jackie Winford Brewington and Susan Marie Love Brewington.
Her maternal grandmother, Mary Ann Wilkens Love; paternal grandparents Margaret Brewington and Joseph Brewington preceded Christy in death.
Christy was full of life, she loved her children, always emphasizing how proud she was of them.
She loved to sing and had the voice of an angel, and with it, attended Mount Olive College on a vocal scholarship. Throughout her time there, Christy would compete in several competitions with the Mount Olive Show Choir.
She was the office manager for the Dunn Area History Museum where she served with an inviting professionalism and purpose. She loved history and had a true calling in teaching it. She was devoted to her community and the history of Dunn, NC.
Christy loved her native culture; she fluently could speak the native language of the Iroquois and was a member of the Coharie tribe for the vast majority of her life.
She loved her dog Bella, a maltipoo mix that recently passed away, as well as her grand-kitty.
She became a delivered and devoted Christian at a young age, carrying out and expressing her love of God to many people she’d meet until the moment she met him in heaven.
Christy is survived by her son Matthew Jordan Kane, of Spring Lake, NC, her daughter Anna Marie Kane, of Dunn, NC, her mother Susan Marie Gregory (Jerry), of Dunn, NC and her father Jackie Winford Brewington (Kathy), of Dunn, NC, also survive her.
Christy is also survived by her brother Steven Keith Brewington (Josephine), of Dunn, NC, and her aunt Jenny O’Brien, and family, of Dunn, NC, numerous cousins, extended family and friends.
On Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. family and friends will gather at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home to celebrate her life.
A celebration of life service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jerome Pope, Rev. Craig Jones, and Rev. Phil Lewis officiating.
A burial will follow in Pleasant Grove F.W.B. Church Cemetery.
