Alma Grey was born on October 6, 1950, in Johnston County, NC, and was the daughter of the late Rufus Almon Allen and Leta Grey Strickland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus Almon Allen and Leta Grey Strickland; her sister, Phyllis Rampey; her husband, James Kenny Stewart; and her in-laws, James Alton and Willa Dean Stewart.
She had a lengthy career with Aetna in Raleigh and retired from Charles River Labs in Raleigh.
Alma Grey was a loving mother and grandmother. She cherished her dog, Bear. In the past, she enjoyed trips with Kenny, Teresa, and Wayne to visit Phyllis and Arnold in Virginia. She loved going ton family vacations to the beach, cross-stitching, shopping, and talking and texting with friends and family. She enjoyed watching her favorite reality TV shows and rescued many animals, often bottle-feeding them back to life. She loved reading and spending time with her son, grandchildren, and Bear. She also enjoyed building her dream home with her husband, Kenny. Alma Grey always took pleasure in having her hair and nails done and dressed in her best.
She is survived by her son, Jamie Stewart, and (wife) Irene Stewart, of Dunn; her sister, Teresa Barefoot, and (husband) Wayne Barefoot, of Benson; her brother-in-law, Arnold Rampey, of Virginia; her sister-in-law, Dale Matthews, of Clayton; and a special friend of the family, Tommy Ammons, of Dunn.
Grandchildren: Steven Champion Jr., Jaelyn Stewart and Hank Barnes Jr., and Greyden Stewart, all of Dunn.
Nephews: Steven Matthews of Raleigh; Brent Rampey, Denny Rampey, Bill Godwin, and Bryan Godwin.
Nieces: Morgan Matthews of Wilmington and April Messer and (husband) Mickey Messer.
Her beloved dog, Bear.
She also had many grandpups: Lilly, Winston, Zoie, Milo, Roxy, Walter, Blueberry, and Ruby.
