Rose Veronica Napp, born Rose Veronica Danko September 22, 1926 in Chicago to John and Rose Danko. Loving wife of 63 years to Thaddeus (“Ted”) Napp; devoted mother to Janet Louise, Thaddeus John, and Thomas Edward; proud grandmother to Anna Christine, Thaddeus Edward, John Kyle, Samuel John, and Meghan Rose; recent great grandmother to Keller James.
Moved with Ted to Dunedin in 1982 and right away gave her love and good works to her new city and friends. Rose was a devout member, Eucharistic minister, and active volunteer at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Parish since moving to Dunedin.
Rose and Ted became members of Dunedin Country Club and served on its committees for many years, organizing events for the club and their neighbors at Weybridge Woods. Rose joined Mease Red Cross Auxiliary and served as Director of Scheduling for five years. She welcomed new friends and neighbors to the community as a member of the Newcomers Organization and the Innovators.
In 1985, Rose began her passionate and dedicated work with the Dunedin Youth Guild. She committed her time and boundless energy to DYG for over 25 years, serving twice as president and was also active on the Scholarship, House Tour, and Fashion Show Committees.
Rose also found time to serve as member and chairperson of the Recreation and Parks Board; chairperson of the Committee on Aging; member of the board of the Friends of the Library, and member/volunteer of the Historical Society and the Fine Arts Center. Having become so involved in such a wide range of community affairs, Rose was asked to serve on the Board of Directors for the Dunedin Council of Organizations and did so for over a decade. She was elected president of DCO in 1994.
Rose loved to throw and attend good parties and was an avid celebrator of life’s holidays and events. She and Ted took pride and delight in being Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause in the city Christmas Parade and celebrating the season with their friends and families.
In recognition of their years of service to the City of Dunedin, Rose and Ted were awarded the Delightful Dunedin Award, named as History Makers of the city, and elected to its Senior Hall of fame.
Rose was loved by many and will be missed by all.
