ROGERS, Patricia A., 81, passed away Friday, February 28, 2014, at Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor. She was born in Detroit, Michigan and moved to Florida in 1979. In 1992, “Pat” joined the volunteer team at Mease Hospital Dunedin. She dove right in assisting the team soon joining the Auxiliary Board of Directors, serving in several capacities over the years including President, twice.
The Patricia (Pat) Rogers Volunteer Leadership Award has been established in Pat’s name by Mease Hospital Dunedin. This award is presented to a volunteer from the Morton Plant Mease organization demonstrating leadership and commitment to the volunteer community van service.
Pat established the CareLift service, providing free rides to community members to receive access to medical treatment. Pat focused on CareLift. It became her “passion”. She nurtured it, led it and sent it off throughout the community and watched over it in a true motherly fashion. Her dedication, selflessness, compassion and humor were all a part of her volunteering legacy.
Patricia was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth O. Rogers.
Patricia is survived by her loving daughter, Melinda (John) Rogers Simpson of New Port Richey, Fl.; brother-in-law, Dr. Donald (Sally) Rogers of Bay City, Michigan; niece, Susan Hoffman of Sebewaing, Michigan and nephew, Robert Rogers of Bay City, Michigan.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, March 9th at 2:00 pm at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 1320 Main Street Dunedin, Florida.
