Born June 14, 1944 in Tiffin, OH, he is survived by his wife of 17 years, Nancy L. Yost. Proceeded in death by his parents, Eugene X. Yost and Geneva (Reinhart) Yost, and a brother Anthony Yost.
Survivors include his brother Frank (spouse Lynn) Yost of Huston, DE, and brother Michael (spouse Kathleen) Yost of Tiffin, OH.
Daughters Angela Yost of Sycamore and Jennifer (spouse Jeremy)Redford of New Port Richey, FL, grand children Zachary Diaz and Logan Redford of New Port Richey, FL. Also step daughters Melissa Kenst Laslofy (spouse Ryan) of Anaheim, CA and Angela Kenst of Columbus, OH. One step grandchild Alexandra Laslofy of CA.
A former employee of the Enterprise in Tiffin, he spent most of his working life as an accountant. He spent 7 years on the State Highway Patrol in northwest Ohio. He retired from Country Mark Co-op of Indianapolis, IN and after working several years in Washington, DC, moved to Florida and started a business called Gulf Coast Accounting Services with his wife, Nancy. Ready for retirement, he sold the business after 5 years, and began working from home for several small business clients.
A member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church of Largo, Fl, he was a choir member, sharing his beautiful tenor voice. He loved to take cruises, and enjoyed participating in Karaoke events. He had a passion for golf, and also was a very talented woodcrafter, even building his own home in Ohio.
Gene was a loving, caring, generous man, who was well loved and respected by those that were fortunate enough to know and work with him.
He will be forever in our hearts as a truly selfless person who chose not to be a burden to his family.
A memorial service is being planned.
