Passed peacefully into the glory of His amazing grace after a brief illness at Wentworth Lodge, a few days before her 93rd birthday.
Predeceased by husband, Fred (1996) and her son James (1998). Loving mother of Elaine (Philip) Zelenyt, and dearly loved Grandma of Emily.
Maureen was born in Roland, Manitoba, and grew up on the family farm. She received her BA from the University of Manitoba in 1945. Maureen taught high school in Teulon, MB where she boarded with the Grahame’s and met Fred who would be her loving husband for 49 years until his death. After they married they came to Ontario and in 1954 built a house in Dundas, where she enjoyed gardening, watching birds, wildlife and her cats. Maureen was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Dundas and was very active in the Ladies Aid, including many years as president. Maureen enjoyed a good game of bridge and was blessed with many friends. She was an excellent quilter, winning dozens of ribbons and Grand Champions at various fairs and competitions. She was delighted with and enjoyed her granddaughter, Emily and thought the world of her.
Many thanks to all staff at Wentworth Lodge for their compassionate care over the last few years.
