John Labrie

Passed away suddenly at home in his 82nd year. Predeceased by his wife Jeannette (nee Breau), his sisters Rita Semple of Hamilton, and Therésè Losier of New Brunswick, and his brother Raymond Labrie of Quebec City. He will be greatly missed by his children Diane (Dennis) Leahey of Rémigny, QC, Robert (Brenda) Labrie of Orkney, Denis Labrie of Westover, and Suzanne (Rob) Grundy of Sheffield. He will also be missed by his grandchildren Steven, Sarah (Ian), Brett, Alison, Leeann (Jordon), Brian, April, Matthew, Jessica, Jordan, Danielle, Rebecca, and his great grandchildren Elise and Avrielle. John came to Ontario from Quebec City as a teenager and eventually settled in the village of Westover with his loving wife to raise a family. The farm was their little piece of heaven. In retirement he enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and will be especially missed by all his hunting buddies. He took great joy in his new great granddaughters and was looking forward to two more bundles on the way. The family will receive friends at the MARLATT FUNERAL HOME “Swackhamer Chapel”, 195 King Street West, Dundas on Thursday, October 31st from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 79 Freelton Road, Freelton, on Friday, November 1st at 10am. Rite of Committal at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Westover Women’s Institute would be greatly appreciated by the family.
