Roger was one of the most interesting and interested people I've known. He knew so much about ships, trains, airplanes and cars as well as his profession, photography.  His wacky sense of humour so often caught us off guard. He was a man of many aliases like Dwart Farquar, J. Tafford Le Pence, or little Jimmy the seven year old with a squeaky voice. I first got to know Roger at the Ontario Research Foundation / ORTECH International where, among the 300+ employees there, he was probably the best known and liked person. He was considerate and selfless to a fault and would bend over backwards to help someone in any way he could. Even with his declining health he would get out and about, often meeting us for lunch at the Admiral Inn across from Dundurn Castle where we would chat about so many interesting things. We lost track of Roger recently when he could no longer be reached by phone at his house and didn't have any other contacts. We would have liked to see him again before he sailed off on his ship with the landing deck for his airplane custom outfitted for aerial photography and the railway tracks for his shunting locomotive.

I knew Rodger for about 15 years. Just showed up the Laking bridge and Copetown to watch trains. After Rosie disappeared from the home,I could see a change in him. I would go to the house,put the trash out,and have a visit with him.Rodger you will be missed by all. Good by my friend Bruce Acheson 

Roger was a long-time member of the Canadian Railroad Historical Association Niagara Division. 
He regularly made it out to our groups summer BBQs, our Christmas parties and for many years, Roger proudly served as "short order chef" for our annual Longest Day breakfast get-togethers. 
You could usually find him sitting near the back of our meeting room, wearing his nametag; always with a smile on his face. 
I liked bringing devilled eggs to the meetings now and then, as he said how much he enjoyed them. 
Roger always had up-to-date information on what was happening in the Hamilton Railroad scene and was happy to share his knowledge and expertise with the group. 
We will greatly miss him. 

Very sorry to hear of Roger's passing.  I have known Roger for about 45 years.  We shared the same interests in ships, railways, cameras and photography.  Roger was always very generous in sharing his photos with me and others.  I was always fascinated with his extensive knowledge of cameras and photography.  Roger also had a good sense of humour.  I will miss him greatly.

As a marine photgrapher, living along the Welland Canal we have known "Roger" for well over 40 years and always enjoyed his company, occasionally having him over to our home for dinner or
eating out somewhere.  Roger was kind and always willing to share his expertise involving the photography hobby.  He had a lot of friends and I am glad we located this obit notice tonight.
