James Michael Gilmore of Duncanville, Texas, passed away Friday, September 12, 2014 at the age of 75. He was born June 7, 1939 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Albert Francis Gilmore and May Estelle Heckert Gilmore. James married Judy Kay Plocek Gilmore on August 8, 1964 in Corpus Christi, TX. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 8, 2014. Together they had 2 daughters, Michelle Niederstadt, married to Bill, and Wendy Bergstrom, married to Jeff. He is survived by six grandchildren; Sarah, Brittany, and Zachary Niederstadt and Cory, Nicholas and Katie Bergstrom; two sisters, Roxanne L’herbier and her husband, Eugene, and Mary Petrakovich; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. James retired from the U.S. Navy after serving his country for 23 1/2 years and from the U. S. Postal Service after 20 years. He liked to fish and golf, coach various sports teams that his daughters participated in, and was a huge fan of all Pittsburgh teams especially the Steelers and the Penguins. He was a swimmer in high school, and sang in the church choir. The Gilmores really wanted their children and grandchildren to attend and graduate from college. So far, their 2 daughters and 2 oldest grandchildren have graduated college with the third oldest grandchild currently attending college. Mass is scheduled at 12:00 PM Friday, September 19, 2014 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1111 W. Danieldale Road Duncanville, Texas 75137 with interment at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery under the direction of David Clayton & Sons Funeral Home, 200 W. Center Street Duncanville, Texas.
