Pops was born in Webber Falls, Oklahoma on April 29, 1922 to his parents Thomas and Mary Treadwell. He was of partial Cherokee descent and grew up on the family farm in Webber Falls, OK. He joined the Navy shortly after Pearl Harbor in 1942 and was soon stationed at Pearl Harbor for the balance of the war. He continued in the Navy achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer serving with distinction until 1964 when he retired. He then went to work with the US Postal Service in Dallas, TX for the next 24 years. He again retired but not being a person who wants to just sit around, he started working at Kroger in Cedar Hill, TX for 3 years (mainly so that he could visit and flirt with the customers!!). He once more retired from daily work to live with his son Jim & Chieka on their farm in DeSoto.
One of Pops favorite activities late in his life was to participate in a Veteran's Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. in 2015. He boarded a SouthWest Airlines flight at Dallas Love Field and flew to Washington, D.C. to visit the World War II Veterans' monument and other tourist sights, staying overnight and returning to Dallas the next day. This brought back many pleasant and some not-so-pleasant memories of his fellow military brothers. He was very much honored by all of the attention he received.
