Stuart was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Dave and Roberta Lloyd. He was the third child in his family welcomed by two sisters, Diane who was 7 years old and Denise who was 5 years old. His family, including his brothers-in-law Darren Stanger (Diane) and Arie Epstein (Denise) and his nephew and niece, Ethan and Ella Stanger will miss him deeply.
He had a special relationship with his auntie Barbara Lloyd-Schmidt (Don) and his uncle Bruce Gunn (Joyce) and many other relatives including Tom Lloyd (Linda), Maxine Fraser (Keith), Len and Anne Gunn (deceased) as well as many cousins on both sides of the family. We will all miss his bear hugs, sense of humour and loving nature.
As a young child he loved spending time at Hunt Lake with family and especially the cousins. As a youth he played baseball and badminton and loved his skateboard. When living at Ness Lake BC he loved to ski-doo, much to his parents’ concern!
Stuart was a man of many talents and his ability to create with his hands was his true gift. He loved preparing a delicious meal and getting creative in the kitchen. He became a skilled tradesman with cultured stone installations and was fascinated by mechanics and car detailing. He was incredibly skilled at vinyl wraps which brought him into the world of high-end automotives, which is a world he enjoyed. We think he probably got to drive some really fancy cars which would appeal to his sense of adventure, and love of speed.
We know that Stuart had many meaningful friendships and love in his life across BC, Washington, Alberta and Manitoba. His life was full of highs and lows, and he was incredibly resilient throughout his life. His big heart and empathetic nature meant that he felt things deeply, and this extended to both the people and the animals in his life, in particular his beautiful husky Loki.
A Celebration of Life (on Zoom) will be hosted by the family on Sunday, July 28th from 5 – 6:30pm PT. If you would like to join us, email Stuartmemorial2024@gmail.com by July 27th to receive the Zoom link. We invite you to join us and share your good memories and funny stories of your time with Stuart so that we can all share in the happy moments of his life. This will support us all to heal from the loss of his battle with addiction.
If you are looking for ways to honour Stuart’s memory, please consider a donation to the BCSPCA or an animal rescue charity in your city. This would mean a lot to Stu!
