Born October 7 1935 in Chemainus, BC, Roland had managed to outlive all of his adversaries. He became, in the mid sixties, the first man to be accepted for Registered Nurse training in BC history. The trail he blazed has since been followed by many others, a point of great satisfaction to him in later years.
Roland could fix almost anything and anyone. He had little time for fools, but endless patience for the wounded.
Roland leaves in his wake his sister, Helene Snider, daughter, Debbie Wood, son Blair Wood (Helen), grandchildren, Jeremy, Ryan, Micah, Quinn, and Miranda, great friend, Sharon Megson, and his best friend, Morpheus.
Father, grandfather, teacher, friend, raconteur, curmudgeon.
I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge-
That myth is more potent than history.
I believe that dreams are more powerful than facts-
That hope always triumphs over experience-
That laughter is the only cure for grief.
And I believe that love is stronger than death.
-Robert Fulghum
