It is with great sadness that the family of Roderick Wayne Gulenchyn announces his passing after a sustained illness of many years. Known as “Rod” or “Scootie” to his family “Hot Rod” to his dearest friends. His loving daughters will deeply miss their father, their Hero, confidant, and Best Friend.
He passed away at Duncan Memorial hospital on July 31, 2020 at 3:20am after a 23-day battle for his life before Jesus called him home. He will forever be remembered by his two daughters Jennifer and Rebecca Gulenchyn. He is survived by his siblings: Hal Lecoy, Carol Beggs, Anne Gulenchyn, Frank Gulenchyn, Cindy Hulan, Marvin Gulenchyn and beloved nieces and nephews. Rod was the youngest of the family and left too soon at the ripe ole age of 60 years old.
He loved to sing, laugh, tell stories, play guitar and harmonica. Behind all the humour Rod was a sensitive and kind Man. He was a great listener and always knew how to put a smile on your face. He loved his daughters more then anything else in this world and showed it everyday of his life. He was known to say many jokes and play lots of pranks on everyone around him. His humor made people smile and his personality radiated the room. He was the star of the show and he would let you know it. He was extremely popular amongst his friends, family and co workers. He worked for a company called Fab-Kote as a sandblaster for many years and made a few lifelong friends along the way. Rod was a hard worker.
