Pat was born in Calgary, the fourth child of Hugh Joseph Brennan and Margaret Rennie. Predeceased by his first wife, Patricia Annette Berreth, in 1977 and his second wife, Barbara Constance Lightbourn, in 2017, Pat was also predeceased by his siblings, Don, Bill, Peggy, and Rita. He is survived by his children, Don, Kathy, Tracy, and Riley, and his grandchildren Louie, Noah, Faren, and Charley. As a young man in Calgary, Pat started Brennan Auto Supply with his brothers, and he operated it from 1957 to 1980. He met Patricia (Patty) when he hired her as a bookkeeper, and as a family, they enjoyed a summer cabin at Windermere Lake, B.C. for more than a decade. After the death of Patty, he moved to Sidney, B.C. Together with Barbara, they established Bailiwick Farm, growing raspberries, blackberries, kiwi fruit, and walnuts. He had a love of history and of reading, and he enjoyed sailing and woodworking. In his lifetime, he built an iceboat, a Tempest-class racing sailboat, and with his son, Don, a classic canoe and a Peterborough rowboat. His most recent project was building a classic Herreshoff Haven sailboat with his grandnephew, Grady. Another of Pat's passions was motorcycles, and as a teenager, he designed and built his own gas-powered scooter. Years of riding included a journey to Mexico, trips between Sidney and Calgary, and weekend rides with his son. He was able to ride until he was 87 years old. For the last few years, he enjoyed retirement at the Victorian on Feltham. The family wishes to express their gratitude to his beloved Prim for her devoted companionship. "Farmer Pat" was a lucky man with a great sense of humour. He was loved by many. A private celebration of life will be held. "And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover, And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over." John Masefield, "Sea-Fever."
