Brent Bergen

Brent Bergen passed away suddenly at the age of 58 on June 25th, 2022. Though it was of natural causes he would have liked us to make up something more interesting, but we will never be as clever or creative as he was.

Brent was born in Dryden, Ontario to Gracie and Abram Bergen on April 11th, 1964. Brent is the younger brother to his sister, Brenda McInnes. Together the family moved from Ontario to Campbell River BC in 1968 and Brent grew up in Painter Barkclay, north Campbell River.

Brent worked in the logging/trucking heavy duty equipment industry his whole life. He ran his own business and had a successful heavy duty equipment repair shop. As well as being self taught and skilled in many trades. He watched and learned from his dad and took advise from a select few respected mentors.

Brent met Christine Buckley in 2000 and they were married in April 2003. Together with Brent’s son, Tyler and Christine’s two daughters, Danielle & Rachel, they became a family of 5.

With the youngest daughter, Rachel, quickly stealing Brent’s heart, she was adopted and officially became a Bergen just a few years later. And they made Campbell River their home together.

Brent and Christine relocated to the Cowichan Valley in early 2010 were Brent started his new career as maintenance manager with Marpole Transport Ltd. It was not long before it was evident that he had gained an incredible group of people that would be his work family and many friends for life.

Brent was generous and selfless. Hard work and integrity went into everything he did and he always remained a humble man.

Brent was known for his quick wit and being a true friend to everyone. Everyone, from his co-workers, acquaintances, truck drivers, the other mechanics and trades people alike considered him a friend.

Brent was happiest helping others, he also enjoyed fishing, traveling to places with his wife, fixing and engineering things, especially if was for someone else. His devotion to his family and friends was plain to see and he could be counted on to help you in what ever you needed or wanted, anytime.

Brent is predeceased by his father Abram Bergen and nephew Mike McInnes (Mikey)

Brent is survived by his mother, Gracie Bentley, sister, Brenda McInnes. His wife, Christine Bergen, son, Tyler Bergen (Darnell Bergen) daughter, Rachel Bergen and step daughter Danielle Buckley (Carl Graham) His mother in law, Rosemary Kay, father in law, John Buckley, sister and brother in law, Julia Small & Sean Buckley.

Proud Papa to 5 grandchildren, his special girl, Makayla Buckley, the boys he’d do anything for, Nash Bergen, Wrayden and Ryler Smith and the latest addition Carson.

Nephew Kristopher, Uncles and Aunts, great nephew’s and nieces & extended family and friends.

A get together to celebrate Brent’s life and all the lives he touched will be at his home this Saturday July 16th, 2022 12:00pm-3:00pm

in Duncan BC.

Though Brent left us way too soon and will be so very missed, I hope we can take comfort in having so many great memories with such a genuine and true man and know that his friendship is with out end.
