Vernon K Nelson

Vern was born October 5th, a twin (Verna) to Joseph Sr. and Tilda (Axvig) Nelson in Ellsworth, IA. A graduate of UMD and UWS, with a degree in Education and both a Masters and Specialist degree in Guidance Counseling. Vern served his country as a member of the US Army, 22nd Regimental Combat unit. Socially, he was active in the Ionic Lodge 186 AF&AM, Scottish Rite Temple, Euclid O.E.S. PP, White Shrine of Jerusalem WOS and a former member of AAD Shrine.

He was preceded in death by infant son Joel, twin sister Verna (Nelson) Knaeble, brother Joseph Nelson Jr., and parents Joseph Sr. & Tilda Nelson.

He is survived by wife Suzanne Nelson, daughters Alicia Nelson, Andrea (Bill) Johnson, son Matthew (Krissy) Nelson, grandchildren Jacob, Ella, and granddog Lili and many other family and friends.

Vern was a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather and larger than life to many! We love you, miss you, and we will never forget your lessons of love!

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank.
