Russell Scott Myers, age 63, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on July 1, 2017 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Russ was a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother and friend.
He was married to the love of his life, Kathy, for 39 years. He was always willing to help anyone and liked the challenge of how to engineer or fix anything. Russ loved to build race cars of all kinds, loved to be part of race teams and competition. He loved his work family like his own. He was a patient teacher and mentor to anyone that needed it and in recent years mentoring for the Duluth East Daredevils FIRST Robotics Team 2512. He loved to take naps with their dog Maya, fishing, working on the Jeep with Paul, spending time with grandkids, snowmobiling, and motocross.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; children, Rebecca (Peter Krause) of Duluth, MN and Paul Myers (Jenny Grignon) of Duluth, MN; three grandchildren, Kellen Krause, Gavin Krause and Jack Myers; two sisters, Leslie Zubeck (Ted) of Royal Oak, MI and Peggy Wessler (Bernd) of Commerce Township, MI and a large extended family.
He is preceded by his parents, Darvin and Pauline Myers of Clawson, MI; sisters, Linda Myers and Gayle Rosewarne of Royal Oak, MI.
Visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1108 E 8th Street, Duluth, MN at 10am, service at 11am Thursday, July 6,2017. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be sent to the Russ Myers Duluth East Daredevils Continuing Education Grant for an annual scholarship set up in Russ’ name.
