Uncle Carl and Aunty Cathy and Family, So sorry to hear about Rolf. Our thoughts are with you

Carl, Cathy and Family, I am so sorry for your loss! Good memories at Augustana with your family. You are all in my prayers.

My condolences go out to the Mattson family.  I was so stunned when I saw that Rolf had passed on.  I am Ken Comfort's sister, Lorrie.  Rolf was always at our house because of him and Ken being such good friends. Ken, me, and Rolf use to go out and have a great time.  He was treated just like one of the family.  He was always so nice and had a great smile for everyone.  You don't find good people like him much anymore.  So sorry for your loss.

We miss you alot Rolf

I still remember the day I walked into 7th grade band class. There was Rolf with his Baritone. I unfortunately played Baritone also. We competed for first chair. I think that's what started our lifelong friendship. Not to mention, competitiveness.

I remember when he joined the Army. I told him it was a bad idea. I then joined the Navy 6 months later.  Guess it wasn't that bad.  Rolf wasn't overly fond of his time in the service. His favorite show was MASH. Probably because it made fun of the Army. 

We always had a great time fishing and camping. I'll have to admit. He was a better fisherman then me.  Played a lot of pool in our younger days. I'll have to admit, I was a better player. Well, most of the time.  We would bet on anything. I don't think anything gave as much joy to Rolf as winning one of our bets. He'd say, there's no money as sweet as Comf's money. 

We were roommates in the Cities for a couple years. Didn't have a lot of money back them. Survived mostly on MacNcheese and RiceARoni.  I survived. I think Rolf actually like it. Good times. He always missed Duluth and couldn't wait to move back. He finally did in 1991. 

Rolf always had two qualities I admired.  He never swore. He never talked badly about anybody.  Two things that are rare in this day and age. 

After I moved to Nevada, we didn't hang out that much. But every time we would get together, it was as if time never passed. 

Rolf was a great mechanic, good fisherman and hunter, and not a bad bowler. But, more than anything. He was a good friend, and a good person. One that will be missed very much. 

I'm sure as Rolf reaches the pearly gates, St Peter will welcome him with open arms. Hello Rolf,  come on in. I'm sure Rolf will turn to St Peter and say You got Pabst?. 

My condolences go out to the Mattson family.  My thanks go out to his parents for raising such a good kind man.  It was a joy having a friend like Rolf for all these years.

Aunt Cathy, Uncle Carl, and family,    I was so sad to hear of Rolf's passing.  We didn't get the chance to speak much, but I will always remember his gentle manner and friendly smile.  My heart goes out to you all, and my prayers remain with you in the days ahead.

So sorry to Rolfs family.  He was a wonderful man with a heart of gold!

I was always amazed at how talented Rolf was in so many areas. He could fix almost anything in all conditions. He always had a smile and a warm and sincere greeting when ever we met. 
                                                         Knowing  Rolf for many years , I would expect he will see this passing as another adventure for him self. We will all travel the same path as time goes on, and be reunited in our quest for a new adventure.

So sorry to hear this. Rolf was a classmate of mine. I enjoyed meeting him at Hog Head each year to catch up on old times. Will miss seeing him this year. Condolences to the family.

For life is precious.  People we love are more precious. Loss can be unsettling and unexpected but with God as our guidepost and the reassurance of life yet to live with him we can move forward when left behind.  Sincere sympathy to all the Mattson family and friends of Rolfs.

Sympathy for your family's loss. PHS Grad '79

Sending prayers to everyone hurting from this sudden loss.  Rolfie was a genuine, caring person who will be greatly missed.

I am so sadden by this.  Rolf was such an interesting fellow.  He marched to the beat of his own drum and lived life his way.
