He graduated from Duluth Cathedral High School in 1956 and served in the MN National Guard for over 37 years, retiring as Chief Master Sergeant. He was married to Norma Carroll Palmer for over 17 years and Frances Weiss Palmer for over 25+ years.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed bow hunting, golfing, and completed two Grandma’s Marathons. He lived in a self-built home in Solon Springs, WI for 20+ years and resided in Duluth for the past eight years.
He was a longtime member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Larry.
He was survived by his children, Maribeth (Dan) Mark of Duluth, Rosemary Sterling of Orlando, and Ryan Palmer of South Lake Tahoe; grandchildren, Samantha, Noah, Nicholas, and Danica; brother, Thomas (RaeAnn) of Husdon, WI; nephews, Andrew (Kristin) Palmer and Steven Palmer; and very special friend Donna Brostrom.
His family would like to thank the resident assistants and nurses at the Benedictine Health Center, Westwood Terrace, and Marywood Assisted Living for their unbelievable care.
Visitation: 5-7:00 p.m. Monday November 27, 2017 at Jarvi Dowd Funeral Home, 925 East 4th Street, Duluth. The visitation will continue from 9:00 until the 10:00 a.m. funeral mass Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 2410 Morris Thomas Road. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd.
