He was born in Duluth on July 9, 1918 to parents, Joseph and Tillie Litman. He graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1936. He later served in the U. S. Navy stationed on Espiritu Santo Island until his honorable discharge in 1945. He returned to Duluth and joined his father, Joe, in the family auto repair business, Litman and Son’s Garage. Eventually he was joined by his son, Terry, in the business, where he continued working until his retirement.
Norman enjoyed fishing in Canada at his brothers cabin. He also enjoyed his many trips to Las Vegas. One of the highlights of his life was when he was made honorary fireman in 1975 by his friends in the Duluth Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Myrtle in 1956; and by his wife of 47 years, Arlene “Daisy” on Feb. 4, 2012; son, Terry; two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Annabelle; and two brothers, Judge Jack Litman and Dr. Hy Litman.
Norman is survived by his daughter, Sharyl Gurovitsch; granddaughters, Marya (Chris) Barsanti, Melanie (Jon) Morris, Rachel Gurovitsch; grandson, Sam (Charity) Gurovitsch; and great-grandchildren, Benzion, Josie, Millie, Maia and Ronen.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 18th at Temple Israel, 1602 E, 2nd Street, Duluth. Interment will be at Tifereth Cemetery. Please leave a memory of Norman or words of support at www.bellbrothersjarvidowd.com
