Jerry was born July 12, 1950 to Luke and Dorothy Hannan of Proctor. He graduated from Proctor High School and served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.
Jerry married Melanie Striano on May 9th, 1981 at St. Peters Church in Duluth, MN. He worked for the DM&IR railroad in Proctor for 35 years, retiring in 2007.
Jerry was a loving husband, devoted father and a proud grandfather. He cherished his family; was a dependable and generous friend, a loyal Proctorite and a man with a kind heart who could always be relied on for help. He loved the outdoors, especially time spent at the family cabin. An adventurous hunter, he took many and extended trips to Orr, Montana, Alaska and big game trips to the Arctic Circle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luke and Dorothy Hannan and his grandson Silas Kvien.
Those who were proud to share his life are his devoted wife of 34 years, Melanie; his cherished daughters, Meghan Hannan (special friend, Ryan Gastecki) and Molly (Andy) Kvien; brother, James (Cathy) Hannan; sisters, Kathleen (Robert Wilke) Hannan, Maureen (J.R.) Robinson, and Sally Hannan; his treasured grandson and little buddy, Gabriel Kvien; sisters-in-laws, Michelle (Gus) Omundson and Melissa (Dana) Bergerstock; nieces and nephews, Luke (Chris) Perry, Sarah (Megan) Perry-Spears, Eric and Matthew Robinson, Sara Bungarden, James Rys, and Luke Hannan; and life-long friend Julie Olson.
Visitation: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Celebration of Life, Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 2410 Morris Thomas Road, Duluth, MN. Rev. Father Michael Garry will be officiating.
