

Jim was born in March of 1933 to John and Bertha Wilmot in Duluth. He graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1951 and helped bring the Duluth Central Trojans to victory during the state championship basketball tournament.
Jim was united in marriage to Shirley Wolff on Valentine’s Day of 1953.
He served in the Army during the Korean War.
Jim was an active member in his church. He was also an avid fisherman and loved spending time at the lake with his family. Jim had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed cooking and his specialty was 8 o’clock pancakes (Don’t be late.).
Jim is survived by his wife, Shirley; children Ronda (John) Thierer, Pam (Smokey) Higgins, Val (Don) Bartlett, Todd (Dee) Wilmot, Kim (Wes) Sorensen, Lori (Brent) Ferdig; 14 grandchildren (all of which think they are his favorite); seven great grandchildren; sister, Elaine; and brother, Jerry.
Jim will be missed by his family and his many friends.
Visitation: 12:30 p.m. until the 1:30 p.m. Funeral Service on Thursday, July 17 at Bethany Baptist Church, 6700 Grand Ave, in Duluth. Military Honors accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard. Burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Park, Hermantown.
