Harriet Leona Starkey

Harriet graduated from Climax High School in 1935. She then came to Duluth where she attended St. Luke’s school of Nursing and in 1944 married George F. Starkey. She was a longtime member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, serving on the Altar Guild and a member of the Martha Circle. She was also a member of St. Luke’s Nurses Alumni.

She is survived by her children, Henry (Sharon) of Madison, WI, and Jean of Duluth; two grandchildren, Todd (Maura) Starkey, and Jennifer Luedtke all of Madison, WI; four great-granddaughters, Madison and Jordan Starkey, Peyton and Brooklynn Luedtke; sister, Marian Gilbertson of Halstad, MN; and five nieces and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents; three brothers, one sister; and her grandson, Mark Starkey.

The family asks that memorials be given in honor of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church “rebuilding fund”, due to the fire, in Harriet’s name.

Harriet’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 2:00 p.m at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church 1814 N 51st Street, Duluth. with a visitation starting one hour prior.
