Frank was born in Duluth on June 6, 1935 to Roy and Lima (Utt) Baker. He graduated from Denfeld High School in 1953 and enlisted in the Air National Guard. A short time later he embarked on his life long career as a union plumber/pipefitter. After he retired, Frank resided at Pennel Park Commons and also served as its Property Manager. Later he moved to Miller Hill Manor where he spent his remaining years. Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was an avid Vikings and Twins fan as well as a bona fide “Trekkie.” He was a member of the Duluth Gun Club and the Knights of Columbus. Frank also served with the Clifton Volunteer Fire Department and was instrumental in acquiring new trucks and equipment for the fire department. He served as its Fire Chief for several years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Roy and Ted; sister June; 2 sons, Steve and Scott; granddaughter, Jill; and great-grandson, Christopher.
Frank is survived by 3 daughters, NikiAnn Appel of Kansas, OK, Nancy Jo Owens of High Point, NC, Elizabeth (Dave) Sawyer of Plymouth, MN; 1 son Shawn (Rhonda) Baker of Beulah, ND; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister Phyllis James of Duluth, as well as many other family members and friends.
Graveside service will be held at 3 P.M. on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Lakeview Palmers Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, 2nd floor Bethesda, Maryland 20814.
