Donna was a graduate of Duluth Central High School, where she met the love of her life, John “Jack” Breen, while working together on the yearbook. The two were united in marriage on May 24, 1952. Together they raised two beautiful daughters, Teri and Susan, and enjoyed many happy years residing in Duluth, Wichita Kansas, and their winter home in Sarasota, Florida.
Following high school, Donna attended beauty school in Duluth and worked at Albenberges Beauty Salon. She eventually opened a salon in her own home, where she was able to continue using her gifts and skills while raising her children.
Aside from being a talented beautician, Donna was highly involved in the Minnesota African Violet Society, serving as President and judging many floral competitions. She was a member of the Duluth Women’s Club and an avid bridge player. She also loved snowmobiling and enjoyed many trips with Jack, her children, and her grandchildren. Donna was the glue that held the family together, often planning camping trips and attending a variety of school and athletic events to support her grandchildren.
Donna is survived by her husband of 65 years, John “Jack” Breen of Duluth, and her daughters Teri (Ernest) Kiehn of Cape Coral, FL, and Susan (Jim) Denney of Duluth. Grandma Donna will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Thomas (Katya) Kiehn, Kristin Kiehn, Katilyn (Sawyer) Pangborn, Jimmy (Linda) Denney, and Eric, Matthew, and Molly Denney; and great-grandchildren Evelyn and Victoria Kiehn, and Isabelle, James, Emily, and Teppen Denney.
If you feel led to honor Donna, memorials are preferred to Lakeview Covenant Church.
