What a legacy this man has left. Someone we all looked up too. Kind, gentle, spoke only kind words to everyone.  Never judging.   Something we all should be living by.  He helped everyone!  And that Smile, how can we forget.  Never!

My condoleces to the entire Youngdahl family.  Although it has been many, many years, I have fond memories of Don when I was a young kid in the neighborhood.  He was always so positive and full of energy.  During a rare return trip through the Smithvile neighborhood many years ago, I saw Don in his yard and stopped to reintroduce myself.  We had a nice chat which I very much enjoyed.  My prayers to you all on your loss.

Ann and I want to express our deepest sympathy to all of the Youngdahl children and their families, and to Janet, on the loss of Don.  He was a wonderful man, and we will miss him very much.

I last had a chance to visit with Don on August 10, when Janet, he, and I drove together up the North Shore to have lunch with another cousin, Hank Salby, and his wife, Marcie.  It was part of a larger lunch among present and former Clover Valley residents, and we had a great 2+ hour lunch.  It was very enjoyable hearing about families and the old days in Clover Valley.  Don recalled the days in the early 1930's when his family lived on the farm with the Houghtaling grandparents, my dad Ray, and Uncle Leo.  Lots of Kids packed into a little house in the country.  Don also recalled how as a Denfeld student, he assisted his shop teacher in late afternoon shop classes at Clover Valley High School.  I will certainly miss those conversations with Don.

We wish the best to the Youndahl family, and I hope we have happier opportunities to get together in the years to come.

Janet, Don, and I shared a ride and had a very nice 2+ hour lunch on a beautiful Friday afternoon.  It's a wonderful memory for me.  We talked about families, and, of course, the old days.  We talked about the days in the early 1930's when Don, his mother, and siblings lived up at the Houghtaling farm in Clover Valley with the grandparents, my dad, and Uncle Leo.  Don also mentioned how as a Denfeld student, he used to travel out to Clover Valley High School with his shop teacher to help with late afternoon shop classes at Clover Valley.  Those were wonderful stories.  It was such an enjoyable afternoon, and I will miss those opportunities to spend with Don.

I wish the best to all of the family, and I hope that we will have happier opportunities to get together in the coming years.

So sorry for your loss.  While I didn't know Don well, he was one of my favorite customers at MCCU.  He was so sweet, kind, and I enjoyed saving the Eisenhower dollar coins for him.  He was so excited when I had them for him.

So sorry for the loss of your Father/Grandfather.  Prayers are with your family.
