Dale was born in Duluth, MN on December 11, 1932. Dale joined the National Guard in the early 1950’s and he later switched to the Army Corp of Engineers which he retired from as a Master Sergeant. Dale drove Greyhound Bus, City Bus, and Quickie Transport. He worked for the City of Duluth as a Heavy Equipment Operator for 27 years before retiring. In the years following his retirement, residents commented that the winter streets were never as clear as when Dale plowed them. One of his passions was HAM Radio (WB0VCT) which he used to help when volunteering for Grandma’s Marathon.
Dale married the love of his life, Marlene (Tyson), in 1952.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Larson, brother, Wayne Mellesmoen, and granddaughter, Katie Morris.
Dale will be greatly missed by his wife of 65 years, Marlene; three children, Duane (Judy) Mellesmoen, Linda (David) Morris, and Laurie Rouse; five grandchildren; eight and a half great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the ICU staff at St. Luke’s Hospital, in particular his nurse, Phil.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family or the Commemorative AirForce.
