Dale Elwood Brandt, 76, of Duluth went home to be with the Lord Sunday, January 11, 2015 surrounded by his family at St. Luke’s Hospital. Dale was born October 10, 1938 to Ralph and Florence Brandt in Moose Lake.
Dale grew up in Duluth and graduated in 1956 from Denfeld High School. He attended the US Naval Academy and graduated in 1962 with his electrical engineering degree. Later he went to Boston University where he achieved his MBA and then MIT for his computer science degree. He was a jet fighter pilot in the Navy Air and flew the F-4 Phantom and was based on the USS Forrestal. Dale lived in Switzerland for 25 years managing computer sales and overseeing operations from Europe to Asia and Africa, with Hewlett Packard.
He was preceded in death by his late wife, Carol Barraca (Freely); son, Colin Brandt of Switzerland; and brother, Donald Brandt.
Dale will be greatly missed by his wife, Wanda Masted Brandt of Duluth; children, John (Andrea) Freely Jr. of Geneva, Switzerland, Lee (Joy) Brandt of Irvine, CA, and Elizabeth (Thierry) Brandt of Geneva, Switzerland; step sons, Stephen (Tracy) Lindstrom of Kabetogama, MN, Timothy Lindstrom of Lakewood, CO, and Kevin Lindstrom of Duluth; brother, Douglas (Maria)Brandt of Sacramento; sister, Donna MacKersie of Imperial Beach, CA; and grandchildren, Sarah, Luke, Ryan, Zachary, and Kayden.
Visitation: 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Duluth Gospel Tabernacle. Interment will take place in Park Hill Cemetery, Duluth.
