Clara E. Sandberg

Clare was born July 16, 1918 in Virginia, MN to Ted and Helen Holmquist.

She was united in marriage to Walter F. Sandberg Sr. on Nov. 5, 1943.

Clare worked for 15 years at Goldfines Commercial Division. She and her husband spent many wonderful years at the cabin that they built on Big Hanging Horn Lake. Clare was an avid bowler for many years and an active member of the Toastmistress Club. She was a former member of Bethany Baptist Church and Elim Lutheran Church.

Clare had a special love for children, especially her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years; parents; and sisters, Virginia and Alyce.

Clare is survived by her daughter, Marsha (Ron) Pearson; son, Walter (Erm) Sandberg; grandchildren, Jeff (Stacy) Sandberg, Stephanie (Mike) Van Staagen, Katie Pearson, Debbie (Aaron) Dando; great-grandchildren, Kyla and Anya Van Staagen, Annika Dando; sister, Joanne Erdman; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family .

Visitation will be 11 am until the 12 Noon Service on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Concordia Lutheran Church, 2501 Woodland Ave. in Duluth. Interment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery. Please leave a memory of Clare or words of support for the family at www.bellbrothersfuneralhome.com
